Our History

From humble beginnings to national prominence, the Blazers embody resilience and community spirit, their influence stretching far beyond the court.
Namuwongo Blazers, commonly known as Nam Blazers are a Ugandan basketball team based in Namuwongo, Kampala. They play in the NBL Uganda, Uganda's preamier basketball league. Nam Blazers was established in 2014 as a community based organisation in Namuwongo, a Kampala suburb. Its beginings date back to the early 90's when a group of missionaries established a church in kisugu a kampala suburb by the name of Africa Gospel Church which built a basketball court in the area.
It would be from this small community that the club would form. Through out the early 2000's, the court became a place where young men would come together and play pick up basketball in the evening hours and from some of these men, the Namuwongo Blazers would be born.
For the 2015 season, the blazers would take part in their first competetive game quickly rising through the Fuba developmental league before being promoted to the first division of the Ugandan basketball league.
In the First division things were very tough especially in the 2018 season where they were able to clinch the championship to the elite NBL with a 3-2 series win against the International University of East Africa.

The Blazers where promoted to the NBL Uganda in 2019, after finishing as champions in the First division. They started there tenure in the top division of Uganda basketball by signing strong players from other NBL competitors. It is mainly sponsored by Motorola Solutions and NRG Radio. There kit maker is Ethopian brand Gofere Sports.
